ABOUT

WENDELL SHANNON

Author  |  Publisher  |  Writer

Wendell Shannon, born and raised in Baltimore City, discovered his passion for writing in elementary school, throughout his educational experience, and at Catonsville Community College. Drawn into street life for years, he eventually faced incarceration, where he earned his associate’s degree in general studies from Essex Community College.

Upon his release in 2003, Mr. Shannon executed his “handle your business plan” and relentlessly pursued his dreams. He founded Go Daddy Productions to publish his greeting cards and books. On his publishing journey, and after opening Words By Wendell bookstores, Mr. Shannon published several titles under his GDP imprint, including For the Love of Fast Money (2004), Business As Usual (2005), and The Wolf Trap by Dennis Wise (2006).

Becoming a longshoreman at the Port of Baltimore by day in 2006, he furthered his education at Coppin State University and proudly graduated in 2009, earning a bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology. He wrote and published Amina’s Trouble in 2016. He furthered his family goals when he began teaching his grandchildren entrepreneurship in 2017. Later that year, he advanced his career credentials when he co-produced and directed The Dennis Wise Story: If I Should Die, a two-part documentary, under Streetwise Productions.

Inspired by his grandchildren before the outbreak of COVID-19, he began writing and publishing children’s books to expand his legacy. Though he once laughed at the idea of becoming an educator in the promotion of literacy, Mr. Shannon now finds purpose in using his creative gifts and ideas with his team. Starting with The ABC’s with T.Y.E. (The Youth Empowered), the Supreme’s Dream book series, the Supreme’s Dream Kids YouTube page, and the Supreme’s Dream Scholarship Fund (pending 501(c)(3) approval), his powerful presentations are influencing children of all ages. Now scriptwriting for the big screen, his current goals include producing Supreme’s Dream Team, an animated children’s movie, and two Baltimore-based crime dramas made for television: For the Love of Fast Money and The Heights of Deception.

COMING SOON

This book is based on a true-life story and is meant to inspire those who believe the power of prayer over your child is greater than luck. Wendell's stories in Baltimore City take you through an emotional rollercoaster of what it was like being caught between an abusive father who ignored his son and a caring mother who loved him as if he were her only child.
The little boy has no interest in following his father's footsteps. Instead, he escapes by watching an exciting world of street characters filled with original gangsters, guns, and gorgeous ladies from his marble steps. Young Wendell was wise enough to study the moves of a big-time hustler and devise crafty opportunities to loyally join their dangerous ranks. Gaining membership came at the cost of blood, the risk of death, and a threat to his freedom. Those risks didn't seem dangerous to him. They became a challenge of chances he was willing to take.
